Construction: 12th century, the 16th century, the 17th century, the 19th century 1st half

 

The abbey, founded in 1124 by Isembaud de l'Etoile, rallied Cistercian in 1149. Girl direct Pontigny, it is one of the few institutions of this kind in the Haut-Poitou. In ruin the 15th and 16th centuries, it was almost entirely rebuilt in the 17th century to fall gradually to abandon during the 18th century. Sold for the Revolution, it became an agricultural operation, while religious buildings were looted and left to ruin. This set is protected Cistercian because of the historical significance of this abbey and the architectural quality of its remains. Protection extends buildings of a religious (church building converts) vessels to agricultural character (porch farm gate, mill).
